What Good Are the Critics? Or How to Dance About Photography / Bell, Adam

Abstract
Eschewing the canonical texts found in most anthologies, we assembled a hodgepodge of essays and interviews that consciously avoided jargon and attempted to speak directly to, and inspire, photographers. Photographs- moments frozen and framed on pages, deliberately placed within sequences, juxtaposed with other images, explained by short captions or lengthy texts-give us the illusion of certainty: of a universe, the mirror image of our own, constructed in a logical and meaningful way.
